Here is a list of the most frequently asked questions received here at the Jedi Academy. If you can't find the answer to your questions here, please feel free to e-mail us .
Do you sell lightsabers?
No. We have gone to great lengths to provide information on how to make your own lightsaber prop replicas.
Will you post Episode I lightsabers?
|
No. The Episode I lightsabers were not made from "found items" like the sabers from the original Trilogy. The best way to make them is to have them made by someone who has access to a metal lathe or just buy them from a lightsaber dealer. |
Does anyone else have plans for Episode I sabers?
Project Naboo, an offshoot of Project Graflex, offers a fantastic tutorial on building your own Obi-Wan Episode I lightsaber.
Does anyone make custom lightsabers?
Yes! Jeff Parks makes high quality, custom designed sabers. His web address is: http://www.mercurysabers.com/. Jeff also makes the original four sabers but they aren't listed on his site. You'll have to call him and ask for them.
Where can I find a Graflex or MPP flash unit? I've looked everywhere!
Besides the places listed in the Lightsaber Tutorial sections, we really don't know. Both flash tubes are getting harder to find and the prices keep going up. Just keep looking!
Are you the real Obi-Wan Kenobi?
I'm afraid not. You see, Star Wars is only a movie. That's right! It's all make believe. Obi-Wan Kenobi doesn't really exist.
If I use the lightsaber plans on your site, will the saber work?
Probably not. You see, lightsabers aren't real. They don't actually work. We've seen one site called The Plasma Blade Homepage that sells sabers with "blades".
I can't find a Graflex. Is there another way to make a good looking saber?
Yes! Visit Project Graflex. You can learn how to make a great looking Luke Skywalker ANH saber from supplies found at your hardware store.
What does ANH, ESB, ROTJ and TPM mean?
Those are the abbreviations for the subtitles of all four Star Wars films. ANH means "A New Hope", ESB is "The Empire Strikes Back, ROTJ stands for "Return of the Jedi" and TPM means "The Phantom Menace".
What is a "Hero" prop?
Hero props (also called beauty props) are the props you see in close up shots and publicity photos. Stunt props are what is used during action sequences. Often times, a stunt prop will lack alot of the craftsmanship and detailing that a hero prop has.
